Collection: Indie Roleplaying Games
What makes a great Indy Roleplaying Game like fiasco or the Cthulhu Hack? Well, most are what we would call rules lite and situation heavy. The excitement comes with the interplay between the characters and the situation they find themselves in.
Where Dungeons and Dragons excels in a long form campaign structure - like a multi series TV show - an indie RPG is often more like a self contained movie. Fiasco - probably the most famous - is the RPG equivalent of watching a Coen brothers film. Watching things spin out of control is fun.
Because of this Indie RPG's can explore themes and genres that are often unique, frequently surprising and occasionally cathartic. Bluebeards Bride and Monsterhearts - looking at you.
Many people experience these games at conventions, then bring them home and play them with friends. In fact, we host Go Play Manchester - a meet up dedicated to the Indie RPG experience every single month at Fan Boy Three (except during lockdown!)
Until then, lets plan a heist and watch it go badly wrong.
